Erman Lunder was born in Ruso, North Dakota in 1912, one of nine children. He graduated from HS at Velva, ND in 1932 and worked on the farm with his dad from 1932-1936. His life was changed in 1935 when he attended LBI in Minneapolis. This experience gave him a new motivation and joy in his personal faith.

He attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN 1936-1941. He received his Masters of Divinity degree from Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul in 1944, followed by extended studies at Biblical Seminary in NY, Princeton Theological Seminary and Clinical Pastoral training courses. Erman served as pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Albans, Long Island, NY (1944-48) and as a professor at Lutheran Bible Institute, Minneapolis and Manhattan (1948-53).

In 1953, Erman and his family moved to Seattle where he was part of the faculty at LBI until 1978. As Professor Emeritus, Erman always said "I'm not retired, but refired" and continued doing Bible conference work in many churches in the U.S., including Hawaii and Alaska.

He passed away in April, 2005 at the age of 92.
