Dick earned his BA Degree in Physics from Wartburg College and a Master’s Degree from the University of Minnesota in Education Administration. He taught physics and math at a high school and a junior college and later returned to Wartburg College where he taught a wide variety of math and education courses. Dick earned his PhD from the University of Iowa in 1969. By the time he left Wartburg in 1979, being the Director of Educational Media took most of his time. They relocated to Leavenworth, WA, not far from Holden Village where Dick did lots of substitute teaching. The highlight of Dick’s career occurred from 1981-1983 in Bangkok, Thailand as he was the head of the Science Department at the International School. They then spent one year at the Dimond Secondary School in Anchorage, AK where he taught 8th grade math and algebra. In 1984, Dick retired and they moved to East Wenatchee, WA where Dick again did lots of substitute teaching.
