Marty Stortz is the Bernhard M. Christensen Professor at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, a position she has held for the last two years. Before that, she taught at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley for almost thirty years. She learned to swim so that she could go out in the Big Waves on the East Coast, and it's a love that keeps her afloat. More recently, she's fallen into hiking, particularly the ancient pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela and Rome. She identifies as an "Ignatian Lutheran," placing in conversation these two reformers who were contemporaries, one from the Basque in Spain, the other from Germany.
