Chris writes, "I'm a disciple, husband, father, friend, teacher, seeker of justice and joy, abundant life for all. I teach and do research at the intersection of worship and daily discipleship. I'm on the [Holden] board as an honor and trust given to me by all who make Holden a life-transforming place, a place for seeing and living into God's Gospel foolishness which is our wisdom, our way of life. I bring gifts of long years of theological training and pastoral leadership as well as the ability to listen deeply and a holy impatience with the status quo."
Chris Scharen lives in St. Paul MN where he teaches worship and practical theology at Luther Seminary. His key interest is the relation between worship and daily life, an interest that leads him into lots of interesting questions including those he is teaching about here at Holden: politics and sexuality. He loves fly-fishing, hiking, old churches, dark beer, and is honored to serve on the Holden Board. He is married to Sonja Batalden, a Nurse-Midwife, and has two great kids, Isaiah and Grace.
