Paul served in ELCA parishes in South Dakota and Minnesota. He participated in a Lutheran World Federation work/study scholarship in Berlin in the 60’s; spent five years as a pastor in a German congregation in the 70’s; spent one term on the staff of the Lutheran World Federation, Geneva, Switzerland in the 80’s; and since 1998 served as coordinator of the Leipzig Connection, a Companion Synod relationship between the Leipzig District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxony, Germany, and the Minneapolis Area Synod.
