Matthew J. Olson is Director of Choirs at St. Peder’s Lutheran Church while also serving the University of Minnesota as Conductor of the Campus Singers and an instructor of undergraduate conducting studies. Additionally, he acts both as Composer-in-Residence for Grace University Lutheran Church in Minneapolis and as returning Village Musician for Holden Village in Washington. Matthew’s compositions and arrangements receive performances nationally by collegiate, community, and high school choirs. As a conductor and professional chorister, his recording, touring, and broadcast credits are extensive including recent televisions sessions for PBS and TPT and upcoming conducting engagements with Minnesota Public Radio and 89.3 The Current. Formerly, he worked as lecturing Professor at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI and assistant to the president of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Bruce Coppock. He studied choral and orchestral conducting at St. Olaf College, The Oregon Bach Festival, Michigan State University, The University of Minnesota, and Canford Conducting School, England.
