Melissa earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Californai Lutheran College in 1977 and a Master of Divinity from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in 1981. She served as a pastor of churches in Glendale, Phoenix and Grand Forks, North Dakota. Melissa served as campus pastor for 15 years. In 2015 she became vice president for mission and identity at California Lutheran University.
