Jennie earned her Ph.D. in zoology, with an emphasis in animal behavior in 2005 and teaches animal behavior at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. She also advises the Veterinary Student Behavior Club which does community outreach to shelters and works with the Dog Socialization Project to better prepare research dogs for post-adoption life. She also writes a column on pet behavior for the Coloradoan newspaper.
