Philipp was born an entomologist in Papua New Guinea and spent his teenage years with a butterfly net in South East Queensland in Australia. He studied entomology at the University of Queensland and landed in California in 1985. His career has been focused on research and development of novel, behavioural tactics for detecting and controlling insect pests in agriculture, forestry, stored products and public health. Philipp loves insects and enjoys sharing his fascination with others. Insects, after all, are the most numerous animal on this planet.
