Ross graduated from Temple University and Philadelphia Lutheran Seminary. He served parishes in Pennsylvania, Washington, and California. Following his retirement in 1984, he served as president of the Lutheran History Center of the West, and wrote five books on Lutheran history.
He died October 10, 2009.
