Marty Haugen is a liturgical composer, workshop presenter, performing and recording artist and author from Eagan, Minnesota. Marty has presented hundreds of workshops and concerts across North and Central America, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific Rim. He has over 30 recordings and more than 400 separate printed editions available through GIA Publications, including such songs as “Canticle of the Sun”, “Eye has Not Seen”, “Gather Us In”, “Shephard Me”, “O God”, “We Remember”, and “We Walk By Faith”. Marty has composed a number of communion settings for Lutheran congregations – “Now the Feast and Celebration”, “Mass of Creation”, “Tree of Life”, and “Santo” (all GIA) and “Holy Communion” (Concordia), as well as “Holden Evening Prayer” and “In the Morning” (both GIA).
Marty has served as editor and/or consultant to GIA hymnals “Gather”, “Gather Comprehensive”, and “RitualSong”, and has been a contributor to hymnals or supplements for many denominational groups including Lutherans, United Methodists, the Mennonite Brethren, the United Church of Christ, the Church of the Latter Day Saints, the United Church of Canada, the Church of England, the Church of Scotland, and Roman Catholic groups in Great Britain, Canada, and Australia.
