Laurel Dykstra is an activist, an artist and a biblical scholar. She is a queer mum raising two daughters in a non-traditional family in Vancouver, B.C. Her twins were born the same year as her book, Set Them Free: The Other Side of Exodus. She is currently working on an anthology of activist family stories, a lesbian murder mystery, and a comic book about Thekla, (an early church martyr who was thrown to the ravening seals in the arena).
