Jessica attended Yale and later the Divinity School at Harvard. She then served at University Lutheran Church in Cambridge, Mass., did campus ministry at MIT, and was involved in the World Council of Churches' Conference on Faith, Science, and the Future. After moving to Montana she served as a parish pastor, then as Director of the Northern Rockies Institute of Theology, then Associate to the Bishop and then as Bishop of the Montana Synod where she served for twelve years.
