Jackie was born on a farm and raised in a small town in southern Minnesota. She has lived in Seattle since 1979, except for three and a half years at Holden Village (‘87-’90) as the Head Maverick and Program Director. She works at a drug treatment clinic in downtown Seattle as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner serving primarily heroin addicted patients, who may or may not also have psychiatric conditions. Jackie has worked her entire career in substance abuse treatment. Other passions include travel (Africa, India, Central America and Thailand), baseball, running, NPR, Central Lutheran Church, hiking, cooking, movies, and the Op Ed section of the New York Times…and, of course, her husband, Jarett Kaplan.
