David is bishop of the Oregon Synod of the ELCA. Prior to his election in 2007, he served 18 years as pastor of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Milton-Freewater, Oregon and 2 years as pastor at Atonement Lutheran Church in Newport, Oregon. He has a BA in Economics from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington and his MDiv from Luther Seminary, St. Paul, Minnesota.
