Gil began his association with Holden Village as a member of the original feasibility team to evaluate the condition of the village property and its potential value as an acquisition for the Lutheran Church.
He continued to be involved with Holden on a day to day basis for a number of years, offering Holden Village office space at his Seattle business as well as acting as "mayor" when in the village.
