Joe has been a professional botanist and wetland scientist for over twenty years, and is pleased to discover that the learning curve is still quite steep. He combines this work with as much teaching as he can, through the Washington Native Plant Society, North Cascades Institute, and Bastyr University. His botanical career began along Lake Chelan in 1984, and he first encountered Holden village a couple of years later while hiking up to research sites at Cloudy Pass and North Star Peak.
