Tom came to the village in the early days. Tom is an accomplished pianist and storyteller. Monkey-bear Falls are named after one of his stories. He and his friends Paul Hinderlie and Carol Lund became lifelong friends. Together they owned and operated the well-know Harbor View Cafe in Pepin, Wisconsin for 25 years. From 2005 to 2010, Tom with Paul and Carol Hinderlie were co-directors of Holden Village.
