David retired after 40 years as an English professor at St. Olaf College. He earned degrees at St. Olaf and Stanford University, and taught Victorian Literature, the short story, creative writing, women and literature, expository writing, and baseball and American culture. He and his partner Karen three times led the St. Olaf Global Semester, and ten times David brought 30 students to Holden for a January Interim course. He served twelve years on the Holden Village Board of Directors; he has come to Holden about 30 times. He is a life-long distance runner and has an inordinate love for baseball. He and Karen have three adult children, Rebecca, Jonathan, and Allison; Holden has changed this family forever.
