David Vásquez (Vásquez-Levy) es uno de los pastores en Luther College, en Decorah, Iowa. Pastor David Vásquez is one of the campus pastors at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and is on sabbatical for the 09-10 academic year. His sabbatical research will focus on developing a “migrant” hermeneutic that draws on the immigrant experience to better understand biblical migration narratives and engage faith communities in the contemporary conversation about immigration reform. Since the devastating May 12, 2008, immigration raid in Postville, Iowa, Rev. Vásquez has served as part of the Postville Relief Effort core team, working in areas of coordination, advocacy, and legal support. Originally from Guatemala, Rev. Vásquez has worked with the Lutheran Refugee Committee in Canada and has focused his research work on immigration as a central image in sacred texts.
