Tom first fell in love with the railroad creek valley when came to Holden in 1966 as a kid during a family visit. Since 1978, he has been returning to Holden almost yearly, observing changes in the valley’s forest.
Tom currently works in northwest Washington as a forester for the State of Washington reviewing logging proposals and making compliance and enforcement visits to logging sites. In the summer he spends time working with firefighting crews and equipment or investigating wildfire origins.
