Gbowee, Leymah

Leymah Gbowee is a peace activist and member of the Lutheran Church in Liberia. She received the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation "Profiles in Courage" award in 2009. She and other Christian and Muslim Liberian women worked to end years of civil war in Liberia. She is one of three Liberian winners of the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize.
