Sherman received his BA from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota. He attended Evangelical Lutheran Theological Seminary, Columbus, OH and received his M. Div from Luther Theological Seminary, St. Paul, Minnesota in 1980.
After volunteering as Holden Village staff, 1980-1981, he became Pastor to churches in Detriot, Michigan and Dayton, Ohio. We was assistant to the Bishop of the Ohio District, ALC and later the Northeastern Ohio Synod of the ELCA. He has been pastor of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Westlake, Ohio since 1996.
