Kathy is a mediator from Dayton, Oregon, having worked with both school mediation training (K-12) and community mediation programs. She has mediated in parent/teen, victim/offender, and neighborhood mediation, and volunteers as a school mediation coach. A longtime peace advocate, Kathy became concerned about America’s strong reliance on war to resolve international conflict. Concern led to research and study and finally to the book A Mighty Case Against War: What America Missed in US History Class and What We (All) Can Do Now, published in 2016. Kathy is also author of the picture book Playing War; a young adult novel, Critical Mass, dealing with sexual abuse in the lives of teens; and three books relating to problem-solving – If You Choose Not to Hit, The Mediators, and a curriculum guide for elementary schools. Kathy is a graduate of Northwest Nazarene University. She has worked as a Peace Corps Volunteer, caregiver in a residential home for boys, secretary for a geological exploration office, college Director of Financial Aid, and teacher at an international school in South India.
