Werner first came to the village in 1961. He says he came out of curiosity as so many other did. He became immediately interested in the village and offered to volunteer. In 1963 Werner became the Business Manager and continued as Business Manager until the spring of 1984.

Many know Werner also for his beautiful photographs of the village.
