Grafwallner, Gary

Gary enjoys solitude, silence, prayer, and writing at his family lake cabin. His formation in prayer is Franciscan, Benedictine, and Ignatian. He finds renewal through lap swimming, vegetable gardening, photography, hiking, clamming, and kayaking. His family includes his wife, Gail, son and daughter-in-law, three daughters and two son-in-laws, and 15-year old granddaughter.

Through the Whatcom Peace and Justice Center, Gary has met and befriended returning vets from Iraq. He listens to their stories as they try to process the experience and re-enter their family and society. He also advocates and educates for El Camino de Emaus, an Hispanic Ministry. He is currently taking Conversational Spanish classes at Whatcom Community College.

Says Gary: “It is always a privilege and a challenge to preach. I enjoy teaching, prayer and co-leading worship. I worship regularly in Lutheran and Episcopal traditions, and my spirit is fed through a house church. I look forward to meeting you, listening to your life and faith stories, and accompanying you as we share the joys, the struggles, the questions, and the surprises of our lives in God.”
