Dale received his Bachelor's in Mathematics and Physics from St. Olaf and a Ph.D. from Iowa State University in Astrophysics. He is an author of many articles and books and textbooks on astrophysics. He was the chair of the Department of Physics at Weber State University, Ogden, Utah, then Dean of the College of Science at Weber.
